The Midland Centre's annual treasure hunt broke new ground in that the route
went through North Worcestershire, and South Shropshire, together with some
new faces it all looked very good. Starting at Hagley in warm sunny weather
the route took the competitors west of the River Severn, near to a bit of famous
tarmac (Shelsley Walsh) and then onto Tenbury Wells for a walk round, lunch
and a few questions to answer. Restarting, and for next years St Moritz travellers
a bit of practice on 2 tight hairpin bends, onto Clee Hill with fabulous views
to the south (this is where the organisers had their lunch), past a pub called
the 'The Cape of Good Hope' to make the Healeys feel at home (and that took
some planning). Finally we arrived at Bridgnorth for a well earned cup of tea
and slice of cake, at Dudmaston Hall, a National Trust property. The route must
have been straight forward as most entrants had great difficulty getting lost.
As for the questions they ranged from easy to keep your eyes wide open.
The result was very close with some very high marks, but Chris and Sue Parker won (he of the BRG 3000MkIII that wins everything), with second very close behind Gerald and Doreen Macklin. Everybody seemed to enjoy them selves and glorious weather makes all the difference.
Thanks to all the competitors.
