This event was in part to promote our new Noggin & Natter venue at the Appleby Inn just off the M42 in Leicestershire. We had to wait until the evenings were sufficiently light, hence the second Monday of May. The event was planned by Bob Kemp with help from his wife Linda. Starting at The Appleby Inn, the drive took in the back roads where the counties of Leicestershire, Warwickshire, Staffordshire and Derbyshire all meet. A road book containing tulip diagrams of the route with pace notes deleted was used by participants to navigate the 20 miles to the Queens Head in Coton in the Elms. Meanwhile, Bob took the 5 mile short cut. The road book also contained some obscure observational questions, and the crew deemed to have the most devious minds, Chris and Sue Parker took the prize.
The evening was rounded off with a welcome meal and an opportunely to chat at the Queens Head.
