The second spares auction was held at Nether Whittaker village hall near Coleshill. The doors opened at 8.30 and the spares came rolling in. There was a flow till 10:15 requiring two tams to set them out and mark up the lots. Members were able to wonder along the lots and inspect what was on offer. Items ranged from wings and bonnets, cables and lights to a complete MKIV Sprite in kit form. Models and books were also on offer.
It being Remembrance Sunday, a minutes silence was held at 11:00. A few minutes later the auction commenced and most items were quickly sold. Around £1000 changed hands in approx. three hours. In the back room, Mell Ward and Margorie Brown were compiling the accounts, taking in the money and paying it out to the vendors. By the end, and to everyone's surprise, the books balanced.
Midland Centre under the guidance of organiser Chris Parker put on this event as a service to the members and our thanks go to Chris and his happy band of helpers, and to you the Members for making it all worth while.
