NEC Classic Car Show

27th-29th October 2006

Once again, Midland Centre represented the Austin Healey Club at this year's Classic Car show. Usually held in November, it was held early this year, taking the slot for many years held by the Stoneleigh Restoration Show.

Peter Dodson pulled in three excellent cars to display on the club stand. First the 100/6 belonging to Colin Watts. Manufactured on 21st January 1958, this car is a RHD export model. Having spent some time in Mexico and British Columbia, it was restored in 2004.

Alongside this was the MK1 Sprite of Nigel Adams. Nigel bought the car in 1989 and rallied it between 1993 and 1995 then put it into storage. Last year he brought it out of storage and modified it to FIA specification based on the homologated BMC-Austin Healey Works Sprites as used in the 1961 Sebring 4 hour race. This year, Nigel raced the car in the Spa 6 hours Classic.

Finally, there was the 3000 MKIII of Mike Tredgett. Bought in 1974 with 64,000 miles on the clock, the car as now done a mere 78,000 miles. Mike has the original BMC service book, green logbook, and all the MOT certificates. The car was restored between 2000 and August 2006 and achieved club concourse wins.

The stand was organised by Peter Dodson, who with the help of other members manned the stand for the three days. During this time, it was good to meet many of our members and to enroll a few new ones.

A big thank you to Peter, the team and all those who stopped by to say hello.
